    Private's cap

1st Uhlan Regiment, 5th Siberian Polish Rifle Division

On October 18, 1914, the formation of Polish volunteer units began within the Russian Army.

Two uhlan squadrons were formed among them.

On September 22, 1915, the 3rd Uhlan Squadron was formed.

All squadrons were combined into the Polish Uhlan Division.

This was the first major Polish cavalry formation within Russian structures.

On June 11, 1917, the squadron was transformed into the Polish Uhlan Regiment.

The regiment consisted of four squadrons.

On August 13, 1917, it was incorporated into the 1st Polish Corps.

This event was of great significance in the process of organizing the Polish armed forces.

On August 19, 1917, an order was issued regarding uniform uniforms. The Uhlan cap held a special place.

This cap became one of the most important elements distinguishing the regiment.

Its appearance emphasized the Polish character of the unit.

It was a symbol of Uhlan traditions and a sense of national identity.

It accompanied soldiers both on duty and off the front.

It also became a souvenir and a hallmark of the Polish Uhlan Regiment.
