General Michał Drozdowski's 2nd Cavalry Regiment was one of the most famous cavalry formations of the White Army.

It was formed in March 1918 from a small division of Captain Borys Gajewski.

By May, it numbered six squadrons and approximately 650 soldiers.

The regiment became part of Drozdowski's 3rd Infantry Division and participated in the difficult Kuban March.

Although it suffered heavy losses, the soldiers distinguished themselves with courage and discipline.

By early 1919, its strength had fallen to one hundred lancers, but the formation was quickly rebuilt.

In the summer of that year, the regiment was assigned to the Independent Cavalry Brigade, and then to the 2nd Cavalry Division.

In the fall of 1919, it was officially named "General Drozdowski's 2nd Cavalry Regiment." This was a symbol of recognition for its role in combat operations. In 1920, the unit participated in the Bredovo March and in fighting in southern Russia.

Some soldiers found themselves in Crimea, where a division was reconstituted as part of the 5th Cavalry Regiment.

Others, after returning from internment, formed the Independent Cavalry Division of General Drozdovsky, numbering approximately 600 men.

In November 1920, the units were evacuated from Crimea.

The Drozdovskys were sent to Gallipoli, where they retained the regiment's military structure and traditions.

Today, the 2nd Cavalry Regiment remains a symbol of courage and the dramatic events of the Russian Civil War.
