    The Kartuzy cap (also known as the "kartuzka") is a head covering originating from Tsarist Russia, popular already in the 19th century. It was a traditional cap worn by peasants, and it began to be used on a larger scale after the October Revolution in 1917, when it was adopted by soldiers of the Red Army and other military and paramilitary formations of the period.
