Officer's forage cap of the Russian Army during World War I

The officer's forage cap worn by officers of the Russian Army during World War I was sewn from "pea green" cloth, a greenish shade popular in military uniforms. It was characterized by a slim, cylindrical shape and had a metal "tsar's eye" on the top.

The earflap of the forage cap was noticeably lower than on the caps of privates, which gave it a more elegant appearance.

The forage cap was one of the key elements of the officer's uniform until the end of the Russian Empire in 1917, and after the revolution its pattern inspired new headgear in the Red Army.
