    Officer's Forage Cap

The forage cap of Polish Airmen was the Tsarist version of this headgear, a characteristic element of the attire of Polish pilots. It was often used as part of their private equipment, to which, after attaching the eagle - the symbol of the Republic of Poland, it became a Polish forage cap.

At first glance, this forage cap resembled the headgear of the Greater Poland army, but it was distinguished by subtle but significant differences. Mainly, it was about construction details, such as the shape of the cap or the way of finishing, as well as the color scheme, which was different than in the case of traditional forage caps worn by the Greater Poland army. These changes were intended to better adapt the headgear to the specific needs and traditions of Polish aviation, and also constituted an expression of military distinctiveness and identity, in this case of pilots.
