The model 1919 field cap (Feldmütze M1919) was introduced after World War I as the basic headgear of Reichswehr soldiers.

It was a simplified continuation of the imperial Krätzchen cap, adapted to the new political and economic conditions of the Weimar Republic.

It was made of gray or gray-green wool, with a low, soft cut and a small peak.

Two round cockades were located on the front: the upper one in the colors of the Reich, the lower one in the colors of the federal state.

This design emphasized the unity of the German state while maintaining regional traditions.

The cap was intended for both garrison service and everyday wear by soldiers.

It was distinguished by its simplicity and practicality, reflecting the spirit of the modest Reichswehr. The M1919 influenced later headgear designs, particularly the M1934 and M43 patterns.

It therefore served as a bridge between the traditions of the Imperial Army and the modern uniforms of the Wehrmacht.

Today, this cap is a valuable museum exhibit, testifying to the transformation of the German military between the wars.
