Kepi of the January Uprising
The kepi itself was modeled on the American Secession or Confederate cap, which they brought to Europe
The French. These caps were adopted for the equipment of the tsarist troops.
The January Uprising was a typical partisan war. The Poles began to take over these caps from the tsar's soldiers who had been killed, taking off the tsar's markings and attaching the national bow and using them.
Later, they were also sewn by Jewish cap makers of Polish descent.
